CNN's Inside the Middle East blog has a very interesting update on the condition of jailed Saudi democracy activist Matrouk al-Faleh who was arrested on May 19 at King Saud University in Riyadh where he teaches political science.
Matrouk's wife, Jamila al-Ukla, told CNN that she was finally able to find him in the Al-Hair prison and that he looked distressed and had lost a lot of weight. It seems that he is on a hunger strike and has refused to be interrogated unless he had a lawyer present.
His wife also said that Matrouk told her that the jail guards were photographing him everytime they bring him food. Perhaps this is to document that they offered him food and he refused it?
